Sciatica

Sciatica is caused by the impingement or inflammation of the sciatic nerve which travels through the hip. When pain is caused by the sciatic nerve (and not by a disc issue), pain is felt in the buttocks and may travel down the side or back of the leg, terminating behind the knee. Sciatica should be differentiated from disc impingement via MRI or another appropriate orthopedic test.

We have treatments which can help relieve and prevent sciatica.

Treatment Plan

Our team have practiced as Licensed Acupuncturists and Herbalists since 2002. After a careful intake we will create a customized treatment plan that addresses your specific concerns. Your treatment plan may include acupuncture, herbal supplements and lifestyle recommendations.

Herbs for Sciatica

Used for thousands of years by healing traditions around the world, herbs have been a staple of effective headache treatment. They can be used to address both the symptoms and underlying cause. Safe, effective, and fast-acting, they provide an excellent alternative (or adjunct) to pharmacutical pain relievers.

And while it’s true that herbs are readily available to those who seek them, there’s no substitute for the experience and knowledge of a seasoned practitioner who can advise you on which herbs are best for you.

Acupuncutre for Sciatica

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine practice that originated thousands of years ago. An acupuncturist inserts hair-thin needles in specific acupuncture points throughout the body to restore the body’s energy, stimulate healing, and promote relaxation. By optimizing systems in your body, acupuncture will provide a balancing and restorative experience.

To eliminate radiating pain acupuncture works to relieve inflammation around the spine. Acupuncture can also reduce the muscle spasms that are exacerbating your sciatica.
