Frequently Asked Questions

How should I prepare for my acupuncture treatment?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Many acupuncture points are below the knees and elbows, so they are easily accessible. Also, make sure you eat before your treatment and avoid vigorous exercise for 1-2 hours before and after treatment.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Our treatment is extremely gentle and well-tolerated by even the most sensitive patients. Please let us know if you are afraid of needles so that we can tailor your treatment appropriately.

Do you use disposable needles?

Yes. We always use pre-packaged, single-use, sterilized needles.

How long/frequently do I have to go?

It depends on your condition. Acute problems make take as few as six treatments, while chronic problems may take ten or more. Regarding frequency, pain conditions require treatment 2-3 times per week, while all other conditions may only require treatment once a week.

Do you take my insurance?

We are not currently contracted with any insurance companies.

Will you bill insurance for me?

We will provide you with an itemized receipt to submit to your insurance carrier. Your insurance company will reimburse you directly. We always advise that you contact your carrier directly to determine your acupuncture benefit.

Does insurance cover herbs and supplements?

Unfortunately, no. Many patients use their medical savings accounts or flex-spending accounts (FSAs) to reimburse themselves for the cost of herbs.

Do you accept credit cards?

We accept MasterCard, VISA, and Discover Card. We do not accept American Express.
