Headaches

If you’re reading this, then headaches are a common occurrence for you. While mild headaches either go away on their own or can be easily addressed by ibuoprofen, chronic or severe headaches require more investigation.

Headaches typically have three main triggers:

  • Musculoskeletal tension
  • Hormonal changes
  • Diet (food triggers)

Additionally, sensitive individuals may get headaches as the result of prolonged stress, fatigue, or changes in barometric pressure (a common trigger for migraines). Moreover, some people are genetically predisposed to more severe headachs. These headaches may be either triggered or resolved by preganacy and menopause.

We have treatments which can help relieve and prevent your headaches.

Herbs for Headaches

Used for thousands of years by healing traditions around the world, herbs have been a staple of effective headache treatment. They can be used to address both the symptoms and underlying cause. Safe, effective, and fast-acting, they provide an excellent alternative (or adjunct) to pharmacutical pain relievers.

And while it’s true that herbs are readily available to those who seek them, there’s no substitute for the experience and knowledge of a seasoned practitioner who can advise you on which herbs are best for you.

Acupuncture for Headaches

Acupuncture can be extremely helpful at relieving headache symptoms in real time (as they present) and also preventing future headaches. First and foremost, relieving tension in the neck, jaw, shoulders, and upper back can remove one headache trigger. Relieving stress, improving sleep, and supporting energy are also benefits of acupuncture treatment over time. Finally, optimizing the endocrine system (hormonal balance) can reduce both the severity and frequency of headaches.
